History of G. & J.
MacPherson
G. & J.
MACPHERSON S. L. was founded in 1987 by Messrs. William and James MacPherson
Grosso with the purpose of continuing the large tradition of their family
in the maritime business.
It was 6 generations ago that the MacPherson’s
landed in this business when Mr. Donald MacPherson Grant, born in Inverness, Scotland, moved over to Cadiz, one of the most important ports of
Spain at the time, and became Customs Clearance and Shipping Agent in
this port.
One of his sons, Daniel MacPherson Hemas, was appointed
Lloyd’s Agent of the Port of Cadiz in 1864, which we are still
honoured to be at present and around which we have based our actual business.
Our core business has progressively grown by representing new
Insurance Companies and Mutual of Protection & Indemnity Associations
(P. & I. Clubs) in this area.
At present, we are correspondents of Lloyd’s
(London) for all ports within the bays of Cadiz and Algeciras and undertake
all kind of ship and cargo surveys affecting cargo vessel and yachts,
as well as damages to containers and cargoes or charge and discharge
operations control.
Finally, we are also involved when vessels encounter
difficulties in reaching their destination. In these cases, we act as
intermediaries, providing a great group of experts on vessel and cargo
handling, logistics solutions and total support to enable a successful
operation at port of destination.
